Bowman's Beach is making headlines!
Posted on 06/03/2025 in Shelling.
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news! National Geographic has named Bowman’s Beach one of the “14 Iconic Beaches You Should Visit in Your Lifetime” and USA Today's 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards for 2025, rated Bowman's Beach on Sanibel Island as the No. 6 beach in Florida.

This prestigious recognition places our beloved beach among the most stunning coastal destinations in the world—and we couldn't agree more. Bowman's Beach was the only beach listed that is located in the Continental United States!
For those who’ve already experienced Bowman’s Beach, it’s no surprise. Known for its natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and world-class shelling, Bowman’s Beach is a true hidden gem on Sanibel Island. Unlike many tourist-heavy beaches, it retains a sense of untouched serenity, framed by lush sea grapes and mangroves, and free from high-rise development.
National Geographic had this to say: "Bowman’s Beach on Sanibel Island is an undeveloped stretch of sand carpeted with shells: false angel wings, coquinas, conchs, whelks, junonias, cockles, sand dollars, and banded tulips, to name a few. A quarter-mile (400 m) walk from the road gives the beach a hidden feel, but among beachcombers, it’s famous. Considered one of the best shelling shores in the country, Bowman’s is the beneficiary of its geography, as an underwater shelf scoops the shells of gastropods and bivalves onto the shore like a special delivery from the ocean gods themselves." In USA Today's 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards for 2025, the national news publication rated Bowman's Beach on Sanibel Island as the No. 6 beach in Florida. Why Bowman's Beach was rated a 10BEST? "The allure of Bowman's Beach, located on Sanibel Island, Florida, lies in its tranquil setting and the chance to go shelling along its expansive white sand coastline," USA Today wrote. "With amenities such as picnic areas, restrooms, and hiking trails, it's an ideal spot for families and nature enthusiasts alike." Read more.

3 Things to Do on Sanibel Island if it Rains
Posted on 07/31/2022 in Vacation Tips.
Are you and your family planning a vacation to Sanibel Island soon, but youâre afraid itâll rain? Have no worries, as we at Blind Pass Condominiums have you covered. Staying in one of our Sanibel Island vacation rentals will keep you and your family close to the fun. Letâs look below at three things you can do if it rains while youâre on vacation.
Explore the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum

The museum is the one good thing about coming to the seashell capital of the United States (or in Florida). They have recently renovated it and now offer more for everyone to enjoy. Here youâll be able to see what shells you can find on the beach and learn more about each one. Donât forget to check out their touch pools and other fun exhibits they have there. Bring home a little souvenir to remember your rainy day adventure from the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum.
Do a Little Shopping
Another great way to spend the day if it rains is to shop around local shops. Sanibel Island is full of fun shops that you have to check out. Youâll be able to find a few unique pieces of artwork over at the Watson Macrae Gallery. This shop is located at The Village Shops and while youâre there, grab a bite to eat at The Island Cow. The other shops at The Village Shops are Macintosh Books & Paper and T2 Gift Shop.
Watch a Movie

Why not watch a movie together if you donât feel like leaving your vacation rental? Pop some popcorn in the microwave or use the stovetop for a little extra fun with the kids. Put a movie on that everyone will want to watch or find something on the TV. We can promise youâll enjoy spending the time together as you relax and watch a movie.
There are many other fun things that you can do on Sanibel Island if it rains, but we had to share these. If you havenât booked your next trip to stay at Blind Pass Condominiums, now is the time. We canât wait to hear which of the above was your favorite.
