Fishing Around Sanibel Island

If you’re coming to Florida to do some fishing be sure to come on over to Sanibel Island and try your hand in the Gulf of Mexico. This shallow body of water is no deeper than 50-75 ft. just 30 miles offshore. There are numerous artificial reefs and wrecks that make for some fabulous fishing. Some of the best red grouper and black grouper fishing in the state can be found here. Other offshore species include shark, tripletail, tarpon, cobia, Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, barracuda, jack crevalle, amberjack, permit and numerous kinds of snapper.
