Blind Pass Condos Hosts Tiger Dam Flood Barrier Training with Barti Contracting and City Officials

Blind Pass Condominiums took another important step in hurricane preparedness by hosting a Tiger Dam flood barrier training in August. 

Representatives from U.S. Flood Control provided hands-on instruction for the installation and use of the Tiger Dam system. Three trainers worked closely with the Barti Contracting crew and several Blind Pass owners to ensure everyone learned the proper setup procedures.

Sanibel Mayor Mike Miller, along with other city officials, attended the training to observe the process and show support for enhanced community resilience efforts.

The training began with preparation by Dean Engdahl and Norm Boyd, owners who had staged the equipment delivered the previous week. Barti Contracting sent a seven-person crew to practice assembling 50 feet of the three-tier tube system and connecting multiple sections.

“At Blind Pass Condominiums, the safety of our property and community is our top priority,” said Dean Engdahl, President of the Blind Pass Condominium Board of Directors. “Through our partnership with Barti Contracting and hands-on training from U.S. Flood Control, we’re confident in our ability to respond swiftly and effectively when future storms arise.”

The session was highly successful, with all participants gaining the knowledge and confidence needed to deploy the system when required.
